Aviation

Before we acquired Blackcomb Helicopters in 2006, we had only dabbled in aviation as a result of the piloting passions of one of our principals, Sacha McLean. While we did have a few helicopters, Vancouver’s only certified private heli-pad at Vancouver Film Studios, and a great operating partnership with Omega Aviation, we had no plans to expand. However, when the opportunity to acquire a company with the fantastic reputation, people, and assets of Blackcomb Helicopters, (incidentally our then most formidable competitor for film and television flying) our interest was piqued. It made perfect sense as a business case, and with our partner John Morris of Omega Aviation to give us comfort on the operating side, it was a natural move. Not only is Blackcomb Helicopters a solid business enterprise built up over seventeen years by the inimitable Steve Flynn who remains as General Manager, it is very complementary to our film and television production services and telecommunications businesses. During the summer of 2007 we also completed the acquisition of Goldwing Helicopters, a small but distinguished operation built by Robin MacGregor in Sechelt, B.C. As the press releases below suggest, we have big plans for this helicopter company through 2010 and beyond. To find out more about Blackcomb Helicopters, please click on the logo to the right.
